MCT makes podium in both MN State Championships at the Track!

Here is a brief race report from last night, August 14th:
The highlights of the evening were the two MN State Championship races,
the 100 lap Madison for the mens category 1/2 and the 40 lap scratch for the mens category 4/5.
Cat 1/2s:
Andy Kruse and his teammate hammered the competition in the Madison points race (a MN State Championship race).
I wasn't watching too closely as I was doing my own thing, but they appeared to be attacking again and again and
then just hammering in an attempt to lap as many teams as they could. Doug and his teammate Chris worked hard to
not allow themselves to be lapped and came in third in the Madison. Way to go Doug!
Cat 4/5s:
I managed to get 4th in the reverse win and out ... playing it conservatively, to see how it felt to go hard
[after recovering from minor illness]. The 40 lap Scratch Race (a MN State Championship race) was a crash fest.
I had to go down onto the infield when the first crash had bikes flying all over in front of me. I did a little
fixed gear cyclo-cross to short-cut turns 3 and 4 and got back up onto the track a little ways behind the field.
The next crash was also in front of me and I had to swing high up on the track to get by this one. The other two
incidents appeared to be when people were trying to ride back onto the track and hit the lip below the apron and
fell over. Steve Redelsperger, who won the race, was involved in the first crash, but was able to take a free lap
because of the crash and was put back in right behind the field on the following lap at the start/finish.
Steve attacked hard with about 1-1/2 laps to go and I just worked my way through the remaining riders to come in third.
This was my second year in a row of getting on the podium for this MN State Championship race.

Team "Blue Tsunami" 2nd at Town Hall TTT

MCT's time trial team Blue Tsunami finished second in the 160+ group with a time of 58:00 flat. Looking forward to next year already!
